Orchardworld

Orchardworld was founded in 1989 as a specialist in the field of procurement and marketing of fresh top fruit. Today, it is one of the leading suppliers of apples and pears to the UK's supermarket industry. The company draws its produce on a worldwide basis but still retains a significant volume of fruit from its traditional and original UK sources. The company is one of three major top fruit suppliers to J.Sainsbury, sourcing over half of its requirements with an involvement in both procurement and merchandising. In addition it has a share of Morrison’s UK top fruit business. The main areas of importation are from France, South Africa, Chile and Australasia. Orchardworld has very long term trading relationships with its grower base.

The company has a strong technical team which has developed both new varieties to the UK (Pink Lady in particular) and it has increased English grower yields by active involvement in knowledge transfer from overseas. This has been successfully achieved by planting two Concept Orchards in conjunction with J.Sainsbury in Kent, through which it demonstrates to growers how to maximise their returns both in the conventional and organic arenas.
